School of Art & Design Computer Recommendations
Students in the School of Art & Design are required to bring their own laptop computer.
Below are options you can consider when deciding on a laptop that will meet the laptop requirement for the School of Art and Design at TXST.
You can choose either an Apple or Windows/PC laptop; the options below provide the minimum specifications that meet the requirements. These computers can be ordered through the University Bookstore. Required computers might be eligible for financial aid depending on your financial aid package. Please contact your financial aid advisor.

- Support plans for computers are highly recommended
- 1 - 4 TB hard drive is recommended
Minimum Apple Laptop Specifications
The 16" MacBook Pro is strongly recommended for students planning to major in Communication Design, Photography, Studio or Art Education. Additionally, as the MacBook Pros use the newer USB-C ports for I/O connectivity, the purchase of a USB to USB-C adapter is recommended. All Apple laptops should include an Apple Core M-level processor, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB solid-state drive and 14" or larger screen.

Minimum specifications  for Windows/PC Laptops
All Window/PC laptops should include an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB solid-state drive and 13" or larger screen.
